In Nilgiri district in the state of Tamil Nadu, 28 km East of Ooty, at an altitude of 1793 meters, lays a small hamlet, namely Kotagiri. In spite of being one of the oldest hill stations in the country, it is the third most popular tourist destination in the region, only after Ooty and Coonoor. Surrounded by innumerable troughs and valleys, Kotagiri hill station is famous for housing numerous tea estate and plantations.
Some of the major attractions in Kotagiri include Longwood Shola, St Catherine Falls and Kodanad which are always flushed with a large number of tourists. There are also some of the less crowded trekking spots. A small jungle walkway nearby can also be used for trekking. A near perfect view of the perfectly beautiful slopes and valleys is presented from the view point at Kotagiri. The pristine valleys are flushed with thick green plantations.

In the month of May, Kotagiri Habba, a local festival is celebrated with huge pomp and show.

Most of these hotels are built close to the cliffs and present an astounding view of the hill station to the tourists.
