Wallwood Garden Coonoor

Wallwood Garden, Coonoor, India was earlier known as Blair Athol. Positioned in the central part of upper Coonoor, Wallwood was constructed by a Major General of Scottish origin more than 100 years ago. This Scottish Major General belonged to the village of Blair Athol located in Scotland. Wallwood was sold to a British couple later, post the era of the First World War. This couple ran it for many years as a boarding house. Just prior to the Second World War, Wallwood Garden in Coonoor was purchased by Liptons and has remained, since then, under the management of tea companies - presently with Matheson Bosanquet. This Mansion has preserved the ambiance of the earlier period when tea estates boasted of their own life style. Wallwood Garden in Coonoor is one of the frontrunner amongst the Heritage Hotels in Coonoor.
